The Studio has built up a reputation over the past 38 years, since it opened it's doors in 1972, for expertise in the conservation and restoration of oil paintings, watercolours and prints. Nick Seversway has nearly 30 years experience in assessing and working on paintings and can offer the best advice on preserving artworks for the future as well as a high level of skill in cleaning and retouching.
Tears, holes and flaking paint can all be rectified, canvas can be strengthened by lining and panels repaired. Cleaning, filling and retouching damages is carried out using ethical reversable methods with as little overpainting as possible. Repairs to original ornate frames and keeping the piece as genuine as possible is also our practice.
With works of art on paper the removal of acidic backboards, old mounting and glues is paramount before the cleaning and treatment of foxing, discolouration, water-stains etc. |
